Precision Packaging for Aerospace Components

Transporting high-value aerospace components demands precision, expertise and care. With these fragile and crucial parts, even the smallest error can result in costly problems down the line. At Reid Packaging, we’ve been working closely with defense and civilian contractors to safely package and transport their high-value aerospace components for over four decades in the business. We specialize in crafting custom packaging solutions for aerospace components, ensuring that aerospace parts arrive safely to their destination, regardless of the transportation method.

Built for Aerospace

Aerospace packaging isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether it is electrical components for a satellite, thrusters for a jet, or stabilizers for a military plane, each component requires thoughtful design and advanced protective measures to handle the journey ahead. Here’s how Reid Packaging delivers:

  • Vibration Isolation
Sensitive aerospace components can be adversely affected by vibrations during transit. That’s why we incorporate cushioned skids and specialized foam linings into our crates. These features absorb shocks and vibrations before they transfer to your items, keeping components stable and secure.
  • Impact Protection
Unexpected bumps and drops are an unavoidable reality during transit. Our custom wood crates and corrugated boxes are engineered with contoured, precision-engineered supports, to cradle your components and minimize the risk of impact damage.
  • Precision Contouring
Not all aerospace parts are created equal — and neither should their packaging. Using precision CNC and router-cut contoured support, with precision foam additions, we ensure every component is perfectly supported in its crate, preventing unnecessary movement during transit.
  • Vapor Barriers
Exposure to moisture can lead to degradation of aerospace components. To combat corrosion, we use high-grade vapor barrier materials, such as MIL-B-131 or MIL-PRF-131K, along with desiccants to maintain a dry interior environment.

Reid Packaging’s parent company TransPak is also home to a dedicated Global Design Center and Package Testing Lab, where a team of engineers can design protective packaging and ensure the safe transportation of goods by simulating real-life distribution disruptions in the ISTA-certified lab.
